Passing on the History and Significance of Overseas Migration

The Kobe Migration Center (then known as the National Emigration Reception Center), established in 1928, served as Japan's hub for overseas migration until its closure in 1971, sending many emigrants abroad, primarily to South America.

The former Kobe Migration Center—the only remaining migration-related facility in Japan—has been redeveloped as the Kobe Center for Overseas Migration and Cultural Interaction, to preserve the history and significance of overseas migration and to serve as a base for multicultural coexistence.

We hope this facility, connecting the past, present, and future, will be used by many.
